2815 TERRACE DRIVE BOX AREA 0712

Thursday, May 3, 2012  On Tuesday at 1415 hrs, Engine 754 was alerted (2nd due) to 2815 Terrace Drive in box area 0712 for the Apartment fire. Engine 754 responded and arrived behind Engine 719 with a working job. Crews opereted on the scene of what eventually would be a third alarm fire for several hours.

     



 

1704 LANSDOWNE WAY BOX AREA 1902

Tuesday, May 1, 2012  On Monday morning, crews were alerted for a house fire located at 1704 Lansdowne Way in box area 1902. Engine 754 was (2nd due) and arrived and went to work with a single story family dwelling with smoke showing. Engine 754 operated on the scene for about an hour.

     



 

CREWS CONDUCT A CONFINED SPACE DRILL ON SATURDAY MORNING

Saturday, April 28, 2012  Crews conducted a confined space drill after breakfast on Saturday morning. Drill took place in the rear of our Building 503. This is just another typical day for Station 54 with  countless hours spent on training.

Tuesday, April 3, 2012  Over the past few Months, Officers have been working countless hours on getting ready for the start of contract negotiation. Along with this very stressful task, they have spent several hours away from their family taking care of other matters along with training for the Union. Sunday, February 26, 2012  Crews’ making sure the Apparatus is looking good on this odd beautiful day in February. Here of late, this nice weather is starting to sink in around these normal cold winter Months. Crews conducted a pump drill for a few Firefighters that are in the process of being turned over to drive.



 



     



 

BROTHERHOOD

Saturday, February 18, 2012  People always ask me why do you call everyone bro, because when you become a part of the fire service everyone is a Brother/Sister to you. No matter what, we will always be there for one another, everyone has good and bad days and have arguments.... but one things is for sure, no matter if its the tones going off or just a fellow brother/sister in need, we ALL will be there for one another !!!!!!



We would like to send our thoughts and prayers with Brother Dorsey on the lost of his father. Crew from Station 54 left at 0930 hrs to meet up with our brothers at Station 50 to support one of our own. Services were held at Stauffer Funeral Home located in Frederick Maryland. Keep your head up brother and if you need anything please let us no

8708 BARRON ST ENGINE 754 RESPONDS ON 2ND ALARM

Friday, February 17, 2012  Montgomery County Fire and Rescue battled a blaze in an apartment complex Thursday morning on Barron Street in Silver Spring.

According to fire officials, they were called to the scene of 8708 Barron Street at 6:40 a.m. and noticed heavy smoke and fire coming from a 4th floor garden apartment.

At the time, firefighters believed there were occupants inside the apartment, officials reported, and that building and adjacent buildings were evacuated.

The fire was controlled in 15 minutes and no civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.

Firefighters remained on scene for much of the morning trying to determine the origin and cause of the fire.


   


 

IAFF LOCAL F -151 PAYS RESPECT TO A FALLEN BROTHER

Thursday, February 16, 2012  Led by a black-draped Alexandria City ambulance and followed by dozens more police, fire and rescue vehicles, the procession for Weissman was scheduled to head west on Seminary Road toward Fire Station 206 around 3 p.m. As expected more than 2,000 people and 200 fire vehicles at the memorial and burial services. Firefighters from across the nation honored one of their own Thursday in Alexandria, saluting paramedic Joshua A. Weissman. Weissman, 33, died after a head injury sustained from a 30-foot fall as he attempted to reach a burning vehicle on I-395. A short ceremony at 1 p.m. at the Beth El Hebrew Congregation on Seminary Road in Alexandria concluded with Bette Midler's "Wind Beneath my Wings" as uniformed pallbearers brought Weissman's casket outside to a waiting mile-long convoy of police and fire vehicles.

"Joshua was always a leader, first and foremost, always positive, always optimistic," said Alexandria Fire Chief Adam Thiel during the service. "But while we will miss Josh, he will live in all of us."

     



 

16 YEARS AGO !!!!!!!!

Wednesday, February 15, 2012  16 Years ago Tomorrow!!! - - - On February 16, 1996, during the Friday evening rush hour, an eastbound Marc Train headed to Washington D.C. Union Station via the Brunswick Line collided with the westbound Amtrak Capitol Limited headed to Chicago. The collision occurred at Georgetown Junction on a snow-swept stretch of track just west of Silver Spring, Maryland to the rear of the Park Sutton in the... 1900blk of Lyttonsville Rd. That crash left 11 people dead aboard the MARC train. Three died of injuries suffered in the impact, with the rest succumbing to the ensuing smoke and flames. - - - I was working that night at Forest Glen Driving Engine 541. Barry J Link was the Acting Captain. Anthony King and Brad Williams were in the buckets.
